Fancy yourself a Train Noodle?

I have weird eating habits. Just a while ago, I had an incurable urge for Pods. Then I had a strange craving for peanut butter bread.

Anyhooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, not related to what I'm saying here. Today we ate Vietnamese food. One of the best treats in Brisbane (and Australia generally) is that you get authentic cuisines. In Singapore, many food we eat are altered to suit the local tastebuds. Besides, if you want to go for the exotic, be prepared to pay the exotic prices too. Australia offers excellent food choices at reasonable prices, although the shops may hold back on the spiciness. I don't think I have ever seen or tried Vietnamese food in Singapore. Have you?

Do you know they sell 火车 (train) noodles for Vietnamese cuisine?

You can choose from the "Special Train Noodles" or the "Train Beef Noodles".

I was more conservative and chose the normal beef noodles, or Pho Tai. But the menu stated that the beef will be served rare. RARE, RARE?!?!?! BLOODY BEEF??!!

As I waited anxiously for moo moo to be served, they gave us a plate of grass.

*Appetiser?

Were we supposed to eat this with a squeeze of lemon? Raw vegetables are not very nice, especially bean sprouts.

Luckily, we had ordered an entree to "deng ju" (soothe the raging hunger).

Rice rolls with prawns and pork! Very nice!!! OOoooOoOooOoooOOOOoooOOOoO!!!

Not very good for minimising hunger because you just get hungrier after the sweet, minty rolls. Oh my! WHERE IS MY FOOD?!?!?!

It's here! It's here! Without blood too! Just a little pink! Pink and thin!!! WOoOoOoOoO!!!

Need to make use of the grass you saw earlier ok!

As a Singaporean, you must add all the available chilli in the shop. Do not be afraid to ask for more!!! TOURIST MENTALITY!!!

* I REALLY, REALLY knew all about how to use the sweet basil and bean sprouts. I'm just pretending for comic effect. Serious.

OMG, the food is so Mekong-ish! There's a really really nice and famous Vietnamese Restaurant in Melbourne. "Pho Bo Ga Mekong" along Swanston street, wont miss it! But beware hor, they have a legendary bad-service-award waiter.

OoooOOo... I heard there's one where Bill Clinton went twice? Haha... I will check it out! If you have more good recommendations, let me know. Email me sotongmama@yahoo.com.sg. That time I asked you about the hotel because the current affairs just reported on people making booking online for non-existent hotels. Boo boo!!!
